Description

Computes the 16-byte MD5 digest of an AnsiString

The empty string returns the well-known digest d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e; the implementation runs through the shared MD5 core that also feeds the standard security handler

Syntax

Function MD5String(M: AnsiString): MD5Digest;

Parameters

M	Bytes to hash; the AnsiString length is the input length

Return value

The 16-byte MD5 digest in a MD5Digest array

Remarks

MD5 is collision-broken and must not protect anything integrity-sensitive; the library keeps the helpers around for legacy PDF encryption interop and file identification
