Returns the maximum character count for a loaded text field, resolving indirect and inherited /MaxLen entries

Return value

Returns the non-negative /MaxLen value or zero when the field or entry is absent or invalid

The nearest local value overrides its ancestors; reading the value does not copy it into the child field
