Original raw-font annotation appearances
The native renderer can construct a missing FreeText or Line-caption appearance using the original embedded Type1C, CIDFontType0C or bare Type1 font program
The transient Form retains the original font resources and PDF character codes, including Encoding and Differences, complete ToUnicode sequences, sparse CID-keyed CFF charsets and original Widths or W entries
Unicode reverse mapping selects the longest complete sequence, checks forward-map precedence and requires a scalar alias to round-trip as a complete single scalar
Array and base-sequence bfranges, supplementary scalars and original CID mappings retain their original meaning without expanding potentially enormous source ranges
Supported layout includes alignment, cardinal annotation rotation, character and word spacing, automatic sizing, hard line breaks, explicit line heights, underline and strikeout
Original glyph outlines determine automatic-fit and caption bounds; Line captions retain the established Helvetica-at-12pt default selection and can use a matching original embedded resource
Map scans, sequence comparisons, fitting, cache insertion and buffer growth stay within render budgets and cancellation; old and replacement managed allocations are admitted together during growth
The renderer borrows source resources without mutating the original graph or font program, preserves the caller destination on failure and supports recovery and nested rendering
See Raw-font annotation word wrapping for space and hyphen boundaries across style runs and FreeText default appearances for transformed advances, original-font glyph and decoration bounds, stroke state and bounded automatic fitting
Raw-font family substitution, synthetic bold or italic and complex-script shaping remain outside this original-resource path; complete OpenType CFF2 default-instance input uses its separate converted static backend, whilst standalone raw CFF2 and nondefault variation coordinates remain unsupported
The focused acceptance entry compares generated appearances with independently specified explicit appearances and checks the explicit controls against original glyph contours, MuPDF and Poppler
Narrow automatic-size triangles use declared interior samples and an aggregate area criterion when a three-pixel erosion has no interior; this does not establish exact mathematical coverage at every edge pixel
See OpenType CFF annotation and field appearances for the complete OpenType-file embedding path and its separate sparse-CID reader compatibility limits
