De afsluitende A geeft het ANSI (char)-DLL-entrypoint aan; het ActiveX/COM-oppervlak biedt alleen de Unicode-vorm. Het gedrag is identiek aan SetCustomInformation en stringargumenten worden geïnterpreteerd volgens de huidige SetAnsiMode-codepagina
Deze functie wordt gebruikt om custom metadata in het document op te slaan. Deze waarden kunnen later met de functie GetCustomInformation uit het document worden gelezen. De data wordt in de Document Information Dictionary opgeslagen. Private content of structuurinformatie hoort liever in de Document Catalog via de functie SetCatalogInformation
